| Wilson Leppard are changing the way
in which businesses think about their web sites by enabling
them to update rapidly changing information. This is
content management.
what can be changed?
Any aspect of a web site can be changed using
a content management system, but in most cases a business
will only want to change certain areas.
For example, an estate agent may want to change their
database of properties on a regular basis, a client
with a web site that has a strong news section may wish
to add their own news articles, the owner of an e-commerce
site may wish to update pricing information on the products
they sell. All of these are prime candidates for content
management systems.
how are changes made?
Wilson Leppard employ a number of different solutions
to allow clients to effect changes to their web sites
but the simplest and most common solution is for us
to provide access to a password protected web page through
which changes can be made.
The client then simply opens that page through their
regular web browser, logs in with their username and
password and then effects changes through a web-based
user interface. No technical knowledge is required and
if you can fill in an on-line enquiry form you already
know how to use this type of content management system.
is it expensive?
Content management systems are generally a bit
more expensive than having a regular web site developed
for you.
However, where a web site needs to be updated on a
regular basis you will save money on maintenance and
update fees if you are using a content management system.
